Working together
What happens when two people have the same map open, and what undo does to a colleague's work.
A map is live. Everyone with the project open is editing the same thing at the same time, and edits appear as they are made rather than on a save.
What is shared and what is yours
| Shared with everyone | Yours alone |
|---|---|
| Node positions, values, titles | Where you have panned and zoomed |
| Connections and their labels | Which node you have selected |
| Formulas, predictions, node types | Which panels you have open |
| Saved versions and runs | Your undo history |
Moving a node is an edit — everyone sees it. Moving your view is not.
Seeing other people
Collaborators appear as cursors on the map while they are looking at it, and the project controls show who is present.
Presence shows who is currently viewing the map and disappears when they leave.
Simultaneous edits
Two people can edit the same map at once without taking turns or waiting for a lock.
If two people edit the same field at nearly the same moment, one change may replace the other. On a busy map, coordinate before changing the same node.
Undo is yours
Undo walks back your edits in this session, not your collaborators'.
Two things undo does not cover
Changes applied by the assistant are not on your undo stack, and neither is anything done before a restore. For either, use Versions.
If someone restores the map to an earlier state while you have it open, your undo history is discarded — it was built against a map that no longer exists, and replaying it would produce something nobody intended.
Editing a project you did not create
If the project's editing level is Radiant users, any signed-in person who can view it can edit it. They can add, change and delete nodes and connections exactly as the owner can.
What they cannot do is manage the project: sharing, deletion, and ownership stay with the owner and admins. See Sharing a project.
Authorship
Nodes and connections record who created them and when, and the inspector's Info section shows it for both.
When the assistant creates something on your behalf, you remain the author and Radiant also marks it as assistant-created.
Reading a map you cannot edit
Opening a project you can view but not change gives you the same map without the tools that would alter it. See The map surface.
